Although most users and gamers are eagerly awaiting the launch of NVIDIA’s new GeForce RTX SUPER series (to be announced next week at CES 2024), NVIDIA is also looking towards the entry-level market.
So those looking to get their hands on an entry-level RTX graphics card will soon be able to do so as several GeForce RTX 3050 6GB models have started to appear on the market. More specifically, three Palit GeForce RTX 3050 graphics cards with 6GB of memory appeared in a Russian online retail store.
These are the GeForce RTX 3050 6GB KalmX (NE63050018JE-1070H), GeForce RTX 3050 StormX (NE63050018JE-1070F) and GeForce RTX 3050 StormX OC (NE63050S18JE-1070F) models, with the latter being factory overclocked. The GeForce RTX 3050 StormX OC has an operating frequency of 1,024MHz, which can be boosted up to 1,777MHz. The GeForce RTX 3050 we know has 8GB of memory, so we expect the above graphics cards to have reduced prices in comparison as they are equipped with 2GB less memory.
It is worth pointing out that the above graphics cards do not fully utilize the PCIe x16 slot but exactly half the lanes and at PCIe Gen level speeds. 4, which are however satisfactory given their performance. The GeForce RTX 3050 in the existing version with 8GB of memory has a memory bus width of 128 bits. However, in newer versions with 6GB of RAM, the bus width is expected to be reduced to 96 bits. We also expect them to exhibit a lower TDP – emitting smaller amounts of heat – which is partly justified by the presence of the Palit GeForce RTX 3050 KalmX, which has a passive (fanless) cooling system.
