Video was released of the Xiaomi SU7 testing on the track, but as soon as the straight ended and the car had to take a sharp turn, it went out of control and started crashing into the bars of the track. Fortunately, the passengers were uninjured as the airbags deployed and the track’s protective rubbers did their job. However, the damage to the car was relatively large.
The video gives enough clues as to why the accident happened and maybe Xiaomi was in a hurry to release it. The brake system had completely collapsed, the pads melted and the discs were destroyed, along with the calipers.
This sparked a series of tests on the company’s new cars, which revealed that the reality is far from the company’s presentation. Those who tried them and made checks, talk about cheap materials and low quality of construction.
At the same time, it does not charge as fast as the company claims, while others report more significant problems, such as the airbags not deploying when they should have deployed.
Other problems shown in the video are the trunk that wouldn’t close, the charging cable that wouldn’t come out at all, and malfunctions in the door opening. The problems seem to be many and it will be difficult to fix them all, since they are issues in the construction and the hardware, as well as in the software.
