Google Drive is already known as one of the best cloud storage solutions, but now someone has taken it to another level. Recently, Ersei, a computer science student at Purdue University, managed to boot a Linux operating system directly from Google Drive, without any local storage.
How did it happen? By creating a RAM FUSE disk to load the basic elements of the operating system from the Drive, Ersei overcame all the technical challenges he faced, such as managing symlinks and adjusting network settings for his home. He describes the process in detail on his blog, where he shares his experience and the solutions he found. Although Ersei started this project to impress a friend, its success may open new avenues for technology.
