DJI Avinox will make its debut in the Amflow PL electric mountain bike that the company will introduce later in 2024. Significant expansion of the field of activity for DJI marks the new Avinox drive system and the Amflow electric bike brand. The company, which is famous for its drones, is going to introduce its first electric bike, the Amflow PL, made of carbon fiber, before the end of 2024.
The bike will be equipped with the Avinox motor and a fast-charging battery. It has so many smart and important features packed into a relatively light electric bike that it is expected to attract the attention of rival companies such as Bosch and Specialized. Acting in a way as a showcase for the new Avinox drivetrain, the Amflow PL has 120NM of peak torque and 1000W of extra power, which is tapped whenever needed to get the bike up even the steepest inclines.
Otherwise, the Avinox is an “impressively quiet” mid-range motor, with a nominal output of 250W and a maximum output of 850W. The removable 800Wh battery can be quickly charged from zero to 75% in just an hour and a half using Amflow’s 2A/508W GaN charger. Despite this much power and large battery capacity, the Amflow PL weighs just 19.2kg, thanks in part to its 2.27kg carbon fiber frame and 2.52kg Avinox drivetrain.

The bike has a 2-inch color OLED touch screen, integrated into the frame, and a special application for wireless access to the bike and all the data of its use. In the event of a problem, the bike will sound an alarm and inform the user of its location through the application. It has four pedal assist functions, including an automatic function, adjusting the transmitted energy, depending on the resistance encountered during the course.
It also incorporates a USB charging port for the owner’s devices, a full suspension system made by Fox, and a frame that can accept both 27.5 and 29-inch rear wheels. “Our expertise in batteries and propulsion technology, through drones and camera stabilization systems, led us to create Avinox,” said Christina Zhang, director of corporate strategy at DJI. “It is a natural progression for DJI to expand into this area, as in previous years we have mastered the technologies necessary for an electric bicycle system, in terms of developing a reliable motor, battery management, as well as designing and manufacturing the mechanical parts”.
At the same time, the company has been developing smart driving solutions for cars in China in recent years, some of which have already been integrated into several models. Recently, the company expanded into the battery market with the creation of the first large portable batteries and charging stations. The Amflow PL is expected to be available on the market in the fourth quarter of 2024. DJI estimates that its price will be between 7,000 and 12,000 euros, so it will come into direct competition with top electric sports bikes, such as the Turbo series models from the Specialized.
DJI has announced that the Amflow PL will be available from authorized dealers in Germany, the UK, Australia and beyond.
