Flip smartphones are more than just tablets and big-screen cell phones, they’re getting better with new software tricks, the latest improvement being a new interface for Gmail.
Until now, flip phones featured an expanded version of the Gmail app you see on conventional phones. Google has revamped the interface and users with devices like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 will see a 2-window layout for Gmail. 2-window view is also available for Meet and Chat.
This means that the left half of the fold-out screen will show the inbox and the right half will show an open email. This makes sense from a multitasking perspective and will save a lot of back and forth when browsing emails.
The search bar is above the inbox and the Compose button is also visible on the first half of the screen. The bottom line spans the width of the entire screen.
Instead, you see a vertical navigation rail on a tablet. Little touches like these help create a distinct identity for foldable headphones.
