During the first Galaxy Unpacked for 2024, Samsung announced a series of AI functions for the new series of Galaxy S24 smartphones. However, at the event, we learn that Samsung will bring at least some of these tools to next year’s premium phones and tablets. So Samsung confirmed that the company “expects to bring the Galaxy AI experience to the Galaxy S23 series, including the S23FE, ZFold5/ZFlip5 and Tab S9 later in the first six months”.
Samsung’s new AI tools include functions such as Chat Assist that can translate languages in real time or change the tone (professional or more relaxed) in texts and emails. Accordingly, Suggested Edits for photos automatically corrects various text errors such as shadows and reflections. In addition, there is Circle to Search, which is powered by Google and combines traditional text-based queries with visual search, similar to the Google Lens application.
At the moment, it’s unclear if the entire suite of Galaxy AI features will be available on every device or if the tools will be ported to a more isolated basis. Some first information related exclusively to the camera, however, is given by Samsung in a message on the official forum in Korea, referring to the following features Improved Single Take Ability to create long-exposure photos using Motion Photo Extracting a frame from a Motion Photo and using AI upscaling to create a “12MP representative photo” Ability to add “estimated” color to your black-and-white or grayscale images HDR video support in social media apps Cross-device video editing on Galaxy tablets and laptops It remains to be seen whether the presence of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 in the Galaxy S24 Ultra and the Exynos 2400 in the remaining two systems of the series (Galaxy S24/S24 Plus) will have any effect on the performance of specific functions.
