ChatGPT is coming to Slack. Slack, owned by Salesforce, has announced a new AI-powered app that will help you create replies to colleagues “in seconds.
Those with access to the app can click the three-dot icon on a thread and select “Draft reply” instead of typing the reply themselves. It’s not yet clear how detailed these answers will be – or if they might get a little weird at times, which is very likely.
Obviously, you can edit the replies to better fit the conversation, but maybe the time it takes to create a reply from ChatGPT takes longer than if the user wrote one.
Additionally, Slack’s ChatGPT bot can help you find answers “for any project or topic” using artificial intelligence tools, as well as summarize channels or threads so you can stay up-to-date on what’s happening at work. Companies and organizations can sign up for the beta version of Slack’s ChatGPT bot on this page.

The news comes as part of Salesforce’s broader announcement of Einstein GPT, its own version of OpenAI’s ChatGPT model for CRM (customer relationship management) software systems.
According to Salesforce, Einstein GPT infuses AI technology from both Salesforce and OpenAI, allowing it to create emails that salespeople can send to customers, generate answers to customer questions, and create “targeted content” for advertisers . Salesforce’s foray into AI-powered tools is no surprise.
Several other companies, including Microsoft, Google and Meta, are also looking at ways to integrate AI into their products – and the competition is clearly heating up. Just a day ago, Microsoft introduced an AI CoPilot for Microsoft 365, which, similarly, can write customized emails to customers as well as create marketing content. In addition, Microsoft is preparing for more related announcements within the month.
Google also incorporated AI tools into its productivity apps, including Meet and Spaces.
