New parental control features from ByteDance for the popular TikTok platform, with the company trying to gain traction in the face of measures being prepared by US authorities that could even lead to a total ban on the social network.
After consultation with academics and researchers at the Digital Wellness Lab from Boston Children’s Hospital, they reached a limit of 60 minutes of use per day for all non-age users.
All accounts belonging to users under the age of 18 will automatically enter this 60-minute limit, but apparently it will be possible to disable the limit and set other limits by parents.
For example, even if parents disable the 60-minute limit, TikTok users will receive a notification when they reach 100 minutes. Also, parents should enter a specific passcode that will extend the usage limit by 30 minutes each time.
It is also important to be able to set different time limits for each day of the week, the ability to turn off incoming notifications so that the user’s attention is not distracted, as well as a complete analysis of how TikTok is used (eg, how many times it was opened η application, how much time ξόδεψε etc.

Finally, TikTok will remind all users, regardless of age, that it’s time to sleep.
Those who wish can set a specific time at night that they would like to receive the relevant notification to put aside TikTok and fall asleep.
