Jaguar has unveiled the eye-catching Type 00 concept car, billed as a “surprising and dramatic” design that reflects the slogan “Copy Nothing”. Jaguar unveiled the Type 00 concept model, ushering in a new era in the history of British motoring. The new vehicle, unveiled at Miami Art Week, is the first realization of the company’s radically renewed design philosophy.

The Type 00 is characterized by a bold design approach that departs noticeably from the traditional Jaguar line. The front view of the vehicle is strongly reminiscent of the Batmobile from the 1990s Batman: The Animated Series, while the overhead view is reminiscent of futuristic digital game vehicles.

Jaguar Land Rover’s head of design, Professor Gerry McGovern, emphasized that the Type 00 is the starting point of a new family of vehicles that will stand out for their original design, following founder Sir William Lyons’ vision of uniqueness in design. Inside the vehicle, a 3.2m long brass backbone runs from front to back, separating two floating instrument panels. 23-inch alloy wheels complete the exterior look, while the vehicle was presented in two color options: Miami Pink and London Blue.

The unveiling of the Type 00 follows Jaguar’s controversial corporate identity change last month, which sparked mixed reactions, with American comedian Stephen Colbert notably commenting that the new logo resembled a “luxury condom brand in an Eastern European nightclub”. Jaguar’s transition to electrification is central to its new strategy.

The company’s first electric production model, a four-door GT, is expected to be introduced in late 2025 and will be built in the UK. The technical specifications of the future electric model include the use of the new Jaguar Electric Architecture (JEA), with a target range of 770 kilometers according to the WLTP standard. The fast charging system will provide an additional range of 321 kilometers in just 15 minutes.

Automotive industry experts estimate that Jaguar’s radical change of course reflects the need to redefine the brand in the age of electric mobility. The company, now owned by India’s Tata group, is attempting to reposition itself in the luxury vehicle market. Deliveries of the first production electric model are scheduled to begin in 2026.
