Google recently published more information about the Privacy Sandbox initiative and the future of third-party cookies in Google Chrome, in the German edition of The Keyword blog by Antony Chavez, VP of the Privacy Sandbox team.
In particular, Chavez reveals that Google has finalized the Privacy Sandbox API that websites will be able to leverage once it arrives in the Chrome browser. The company plans to make it available from July 2023. In short, this will allow developers to run the necessary tests when the API reaches Chrome in order to assess the readiness of their services for a future without third-party cookies.
The Privacy Sandbox is Google’s main initiative to limit user tracking while allowing advertisers to serve personalized ads from third parties. Third-party cookies allowed advertisers to track user activity on the internet, forming one of the key components of the advertising ecosystem.

Now, with Privacy Sandbox, the browser will analyze the user’s history and identify it with specific interests. Advertisers will then be able to retrieve the information through the API to display ads relevant to your interests.
