In a recent speech, HUAWEI Founder Ren Zhengfei declared himself an Apple fan. At the time he was speaking about the company during an international collective programming competition sponsored by Huawei and managed to leave everyone in attendance speechless.
It is not only that he is the founder of HUAWEI, but also the current acting CEO of the company, which currently has Apple as its main competitor. This statement is not something we often hear from Apple’s competitors.
Throughout their talk, he spoke highly of Apple. Specifically he stated: “We often investigate why Apple’s products are so good and we can also see the gap between us and Apple” and continued “I’m very happy to have a teacher who gives us the opportunity to learn and compare. In that sense, it wouldn’t be an exaggeration to call me an Apple fan.”
So it is not possible for such a rare declaration of a noble rival to remain unaddressed. What is certain is that it is beautiful to have this climate among companies. Especially with what has happened to HUAWEI, such a statement is more surprising. The company was a breath away from becoming the No. 1 mobile phone company, until the ban from the US came and cut it short. The company does not have access to Google services, nor to suppliers that use American technology.
After this unfair ban of the company, HUAWEI is trying to find its footing to get back on the upward trend and it seems that it is not giving up, as it is again releasing a device with 5G, the Mate 60 Pro, which has inside the Kirin 9000s, from HUAWEI itself.
