Google has added a new requirement to the Play Store that affects all apps on the platform. This new requirement is intended to help users have more control and protect the privacy of their data. So soon, all Play Store apps that allow account creation should allow users to delete those accounts.
As the tech giant reports, the Data safety area already allows developers to offer the option to delete data. However, with the new addition, Google Play Store users will be able to easily and for all applications delete the accounts they created and, by extension, the data associated with them. But it appears the company won’t be putting the new rule into effect right away. T
o give developers enough time to adapt to the new data, the search giant will implement the new rule gradually. In the first phase, it will ask developers to respond to the account deletion query by December 7.
Early next year, Google Play Store users will start seeing changes to the app store, including a new badge and a new area to delete data. By filing a request, developers can get an extension until May 31, 2024.
