After more than a decade on the market, Intel has decided to stop production of NUC (Next Unit of Computing), the iconic series of mini computers that won fanatical friends thanks to their compact size, their “articulated” design and decent up to their excellent (in the higher models) performance. Although Intel has decided to end the manufacture and sale of NUC computers, it has not abandoned the market as it has entered into partnerships with third-party manufacturers – whom it licenses to use its trademarks and names.
One of the first companies to decide to introduce a NUC is… the usual suspect ASUS. The ROG NUC codenamed “Scorpion Canyon” is equipped – depending on the version – with an Intel Core Ultra 7 or Core Ultra 9 processor and GeForce RTX 4060 and RTX 4070 graphics, supporting up to four 4K screens at the same time. According to ASUS, the ROG NUC was designed for high performance and productivity with ASUS also boasting a toolless design that allows the user to perform maintenance or upgrade tasks in a short period of time (less than 10 minutes).
In terms of connectivity, there is one HDMI 2.1 port, one DisplayPort 1.4 output, one Thunderbolt 4/ USB Type-C port and one USB 2.0 port. It supports WiFi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3 and will be available with both Windows 11 and Linux. ASUS also announced that the ROG NUC was designed to work seamlessly with the ROG Raikiri PRO controller while also being compatible with the ROG Armory Crate app, which allows for both monitoring and adjusting various system parameters as well as customizing the built-in lighting. RGB.

The company is going to introduce other ROG NUC computers in the future as it says that this version is “a harbinger of a new era in NUC gaming”. We currently have no information on the availability or cost of the ROG NUC, but the Taiwanese company will announce them soon.
