Meta, Facebook’s parent company, said last Friday that measures it has put in place to curb the spread of misinformation are being phased out for good.
As we all know, social media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter have come under pressure to stop disinformation regarding the pandemic. Facebook says it took down about 1.3 million fake accounts between October and December and removed more than 12 million pieces of content related to Covid 19 and vaccines.
It’s worth noting, however, that the measures will continue to apply in countries that are still in a state of emergency, with the company stating that it will continue to remove content that violates disinformation policies.
