The Cyberpunk 2077 HD Reworked Project is impressive

A new mod is coming to overhaul the textures in Cyberpunk 2077 to make everything from a crack in a window to graffiti on a wall look crisp and highly detailed, like the real thing. The well-known modder “Halk Hogan” is going to release on March 12 the long-awaited Cyberpunk 2077 HD Reworked Project, an impressive mod that significantly improves the textures in CD Projekt RED’s futuristic RPG. This is the new “work” of the modder after The Witcher 3 HD Reworked Project which was integrated into the official next-gen update of the title.

The Cyberpunk 2077 HD Reworked Project updates many in-game textures to improve sharpness, overall detail and ultimately realism without changing the original intentions of the developer’s designers and artists or the art direction. The results are more than obvious in the trailer released. The impressive upgrade covers almost everything in the game, from road surfaces or cracks in windows, to car tires, graffiti on walls and more.

However, what makes the project even more impressive is the extent of Night City, which is known to be huge. With or without the texture mod, Cyberpunk 2077 is one of the most visually impressive games available today, and it’s no secret that running the game with ray tracing enabled requires a pretty capable – and expensive – graphics card. Additionally, in some cases a technology like DLSS will need to be enabled to keep performance at a high level.

The good news in this case is that this particular mod is not expected to affect in-game performance as long as there is enough VRAM available for the new textures. Cyberpunk 2077 is in 2023 a very different experience than the one gamers had at launch, since many updates and patches have been made available that turn the game into a much more exciting experience, and without… problems. At this time, the official expansion called “Phantom Liberty” is also under development.

CD Projekt RED is also working with NVIDIA to release an update (Ray Tracing: Overdrive) that will add many more ray tracing features to the game. In this case, however, the use of a possibly latest generation GeForce RTX 40 Series graphics card and DLSS 3 Frame Generation technology will be required.
