The most powerful Android smartphone in Europe has just been announced

Asus is a company known for creating perhaps the best gaming smartphones in the world, with the company adding yet another model to the Asus ROG series. The reason for the Asus ROG Phone 8, which brings a renewed and sleeker design compared to its predecessors, is significantly more compact and lighter. The smartphone also ups the game in terms of camera, being the first in the series to feature a 32MP 3x telephoto camera. Asus points out that the Asus ROG Phone 8 is 17% smaller, 9% lighter and 15% thinner than the ROG Phone 7, while of course retaining RGB lighting on the back.

The phone comes with a 6.78 inch Samsung AMOLED screen with LTPO (Low-Temperature Polycrystalline Oxide) technology, offering excellent quality, while also supporting the adjustment of the refresh rate depending on the content the user is viewing. The ROG Phone 8 reaches a refresh rate of 165Hz, while the touch sampling rate reaches 720Hz. The maximum brightness reaches 2,500 nits, while thanks to the thin bezels it achieves a 94% display-to-body ratio. The screen is protected with Gorilla Glass Victus 2 making it significantly harder against scratches and falls. Finally, it has a special eye protection mode by reducing blue light.

The phone also impresses in terms of its photographic capabilities. We will meet a 50MP main camera with Sony IMX890, the same sensor found in the OnePlus 11. It has a 6-axis Hybrid Gimbal Stabilizer and extremely smooth videos as well as extremely stable photos. The main camera is accompanied by a 32MP 3x telephoto with optical image stabilization and a 13MP ultra wide angle. As for selfies there is a 32MP.

At its heart beats Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, together with Asus cooling technology. That’s because of Asus’ 360° SoC Cooling System Gen 2 strategically placed between the SoC and the metal back of the device to ensure heat dissipation. When the user adds the AeroActive Cooler X to the back, it aligns with the system internally providing the necessary system cooling for peak performance.

The Asus ROG Phone 8 will be available in Europe and the UK at $1,099.99 for the 12GB/256GB version, while the ROG Phone 8 Pro with 16GB/512GB goes for €1,199.99.
