With One UI 6.0, Samsung will more accurately present the storage numbers of Samsung devices. That is, instead of the company grouping the difference between advertised and actual storage in the System section, One UI 6.0 shows it as Other Files. This will put an end to people thinking that Samsung software takes up to 60GB of space on a 512GB smartphone.
The change was spotted by Max Weinbach and confirmed by sammobile, where in One UI 6 Beta 1 the My Files app shows 17.56GB of System space and 4.98GB of Other files space. This last section is nothing more than the difference between the advertised space (measured in Gigabytes) and the actual space measurement in gibibytes.
For example, a 256GB (Gigabyte) Galaxy S23 has 238GiB of space available to users. This difference of 18GB was previously found in the System, resulting in high numbers of 36GB. Now, One UI 6.0 shows the items in Other Files more accurately at 17.56GB.
