Users report “Galaxy S23 Ultra has problem with WiFi

Shortly after the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, reports of WiFi and internet connectivity issues began.

In the forums of Reddit and Samsung there are many threads about the connectivity issues presented by the premium device. It looks like the phone is connecting to WiFi with no internet access. If it does connect, the connection doesn’t take long. Most of them, in fact, clarify that the rest of the devices in their home do not face any problem and are connected normally.

The prevailing theory is that the problem occurs when the user has a WiFi 6 router. WiFi 6 or 802.11ax is a new generation of wireless technology and few have such a router. Most have an older type or the latest WiFi 6E.

“Suspecting that it had something to do with the WiFi 6 protocol, I switched back to my old WiFi 5 router. Since then, the phone stays connected for over 24 hours, whereas before it would lose the WiFi 6 connection within an hour or two” , a Reddit user noted.

Disabling WiFI 6 and WPA3 encryption protocol has resolved the issue for some users. Factory reset also solved the problem for some Galaxy S23 Ultra owners. One user suggested turning off random MAC address and switching to phone MAC.

A Samsung representative seems to have replied to a Reddit user that the next update will fix the problem.
