Ad blockers have their pros and cons, like everything else in this life, this planet, this universe, and so on. You may be able to watch videos on YouTube without ads, but this greatly affects the revenue of the platform and creators.
That is why Google has decided to act and this time it will take very serious measures. It has become known that Google is testing blocking video playback by people using ad blockers. User reported a pop-up menu informing the user that it will block the video player after three videos. So, you can maybe watch videos, but in moderation. Several media outlets have contacted Google for a statement. Finally, the company responded and confirmed the “bad news”.
For example, a spokesperson told The Verge that ad blockers violate YouTube’s terms of service. He added that blocking the videos will help users who use such tools to see ads or try Premium for an “ad free experience”. Although slightly altered, the response received by Android Authority says the same. YouTube is testing a way to push users to add the platform to its ad blocker exceptions or try Premium. Also, the response received by AA says that the detection of these tools is not new, many publishers ask viewers to disable them. Meanwhile, a reddit user made it known that Google is testing the same approach on mobile devices.
Specifically, the user posted an image showing an app running a video. However, its playback is blocked. A box has appeared on top of the app’s UI saying that playback has been blocked because an ad blocker has been detected. The solutions offered by Google in this case too are the same. The user will have to put YouTube in the list of allowed applications in the ad blocker or pay the Premium that provides ad-free use of the platform.

Like we said, free stuff is nice, but you can’t have everyone working hard to get what they want without giving even a few seconds of their time.
