There are currently around 1.8 billion active Gmail accounts, while when it comes to Google Photos, active users are estimated at 2 billion.
Google has warned that starting next December, inactive accounts will be deleted. Although billions of people use Google Services like Gmail and Google Photos, the percentage who read Google’s security blogs is small.
This is precisely why we are writing this article. In short, Google’s Ruth Kricheli warned in a recent blog that users with inactive personal Google Accounts will soon see them deleted, losing data from Gmail, Docs, Google Drive, Google Meet, Calendar and Google Photos in December 2023 . It is worth noting that the deletion of accounts and content as explained by Kricheli will be done gradually and with a number of warnings for the affected users.

Google claims that it is proceeding with these deletions for the simple reason that there is a clear risk of a forgotten account being hacked with whatever implications this may have for the user. If you don’t want to lose your account, you should connect to it immediately, while if you have forgotten your passwords, start the reset process.
Of course, the result of the reset depends on the recovery data you have declared and if you remember them.
