A few days ago we saw Google announcing the start of deleting accounts that have been inactive for over 2 years. It does this for security reasons, but also to save space on its servers. But Google is not the only one who does it, Apple also follows this tactic and even more “violently”.
According to the iCloud user terms, Apple explicitly states that after just one year, if an account is inactive, it will delete it. In fact, unlike Google, the email notifications will only be sent for one month, unlike Google which will send multiple notifications over the course of several months. According to Apple, deleting the iCloud account will affect user access, while all content in the account will be lost, as well as the purchases made with the specific Apple ID.
This means that the backups of your photos, the applications you have purchased, the contacts that are synchronized, the music and movies that you have purchased and generally your entire profile will be deleted forever.

So, if you used to be an iPhone user but switched sides, it’s a good idea to log in to iCloud every now and then to keep your account active, and you should link to it an email you’re tracking so you can see the Apple messages before deleting your account.
